how it started

1998

A thespian ready to take the theater world by storm. From “boring” San Francisco bound for New York’s Broadway stage.

“ Corporate job? What is that? It’s okay, I don’t need to know. I’m going to be an actress and I’m hella excited.”

2004

Crisis mode.

In my senior year of college, I realized I enjoyed writing more than performing. Friends would ask me to review their cover letters and résumés — not because I was trained to do so, but because I had an eye for the components of a great story: theme, story structure, and style.

After I graduated college with a BA degree in Theater Arts, I took a temporary job at a bank as a teller/financial representative until my theater career “took off”. Four years later I was still there, had $85K+ in student loan debt, living paycheck to paycheck, and had no idea what I was doing, I thought, “Should I return to San Francisco and start over? Go to graduate school? Should I switch industries?” I didn’t understand what I was doing wrong.

While I was great at financial sales, my creative soul was dying. I was tired of seeing colleagues with less experience and even less ambition get raises and promotions. Then, it clicked. It didn’t matter what kind of career I had. If I were going to have any kind of career breakthrough, I needed to strip away all the contradicting career advice I’d heard and read, and get down to the root of who I was, what I wanted, and what I needed to do to communicate that to the right people. And, guess what? I started to get results. Once I earned my résumé writing and coaching certifications and had my system in place, I began to teach others.

Established in 2013, Career Global is a black woman-led career branding firm on a mission to help ambitious professional women and women of color to become the CEOs of their careers with career branding strategies, tools, and unmatched support.

I’ve never met a dessert I didn’t like. I battle my monster sweet tooth that tries to take over my life. I have the dental bill to prove it.

I'm a California girl at heart. I moved from San Francisco to New York City to pursue my theater acting career. Once I earned my bachelor's degree in theater arts, I realized I enjoyed writing more than acting. Go figure!

I LOVE tea! I never liked coffee and I love tea so much that I started my own line of wellness teas.
